Slug is an independent bike and outdoor brand. We embody the spirit of the everyday adventurer to create outdoor products and experiences that spark unforgettable moments. In everything we do, we aim to create positive and lasting change for people, planet, and culture.

Speed is so hyper-connected to bike culture. It is a core component of the act of cycling itself. But, speed is relative. It's open to interpretation. Our fast may be your slow, and your fast may be too fast for your own good.

Your speed is yours to own. Move at a pace that allows you to savor the experience of riding a bike and connect with nature. Remain curious about your environment instead of racing through it. What better way to challenge the concept of Speed in cycling than by embracing the identity of one of the slowest-moving creatures on Earth: The Mighty Slug?

Slug was founded in San Francisco. We live here, we work here, and we ride here. We appreciate everything San Francisco and The Bay means to us and our riding. The Bay Area, its unique environments, the community, and its historical significance to biking are at the core of who we are.

We champion the everyday, not race day. We savor and enjoy the experience of riding, chatting, and resting on the trail, on the mountain, and in nature. There's more than one way to ride the trail. For us, spending as much time on the trail is the goal.

Byron + Steve

Steve has spent the last 15 years working in the e-commerce, cycling, and outdoor industries. He's helped some of the most celebrated e-comm companies develop their brand and achieve their growth goals. He's also had a front-row seat to the mass of changes the cycling industry has undergone while wrenching for some of the Bay Area's most well-known and reputable shops. Riding in the Bay Area is as core to Steve's identity as it is to Slug's.

Gasser, XXL. Shimano XT. 35mm Paul stem with 45mm riser bars, Reserve Fry Sauce Wheelset, 2.6" tires, 130mm Pike, 30T chainring for COASTAL RIDING.

Byron is our product guy, born in California but raised in Taiwan. He's a classically trained industrial designer with a background in tech, but spent the last decade reimagining the limits of production and product performance through Additive Manufacturing (3D printing). He's worked on top-secret projects for clients in the sports and outdoor industries, designing some of the most popular cycling components we still aren't allowed to discuss. He's always cooking up new things, so be sure to check back for what's to come!!!
